Ultimate Tips and Tricks to Make the Most of Your New Year’s Eve

There’s nothing better than celebrating New Year’s Eve with family and friends and starting the year on a high. However, what should be a truly joyous occasion can often turn stressful in mere seconds (cue someone stealing your park, misplaced New Year’s tickets and the long wait trying to get home at 1am). Well, we’re here to make sure you have a memorable New Year’s with a few tips and insider knowledge we have up our sleeves…

Travelling In
This can be the most stressful part of New Year’s, are we right or are we right? However, depending on how you want to get in, there are some things to keep in mind that will alleviate the stress.
If you’re taking public transport: Luckily for us, TransLink has added a whole range of extra New Year’s Eve services to accommodate us. Since South Bank is surrounded by a myriad of transport options, you should have no trouble finding the right bus/ferry/train for you. Remember, preparation is key though so jump onto the TransLink website and ensure you plan your journey before you get to the platform!

If you’re taking your own car:
We’re taking the hassle out of parking this New Year’s by allowing you to pre-book through South Bank’s parking portal! Taking 99.99% of the stress out of parking, the portal provides you with instant confirmation on your park, meaning that you won’t miss out on one this NYE.

Fireworks
Ah, the main event! Grab a good vantage spot along the river and take in the spectacular fireworks display as we bid farewell to 2017 and welcome 2018 in with a bang! There will be two fantastic fireworks displays this year; one at 8.30pm for younger party-goers and another at midnight for late-night revelers.

No tickets? No worries!
Thought your friends had New Year’s tickets sorted only to discover at 7pm December 31st that they thought the same of you? Walk in’s are welcome at some of South Bank’s best bars, so if you find yourself ticket-less this New Year’s Eve, our tip is to try one of the following;  The Manhattan Line, Bourbon Street, Next Door Kitchen and Bar and Greystone Bar.

If you want to keep the party going:
Continue the festivities on New Year’s Day at Stokebar Q! These guys deliver the goods when it comes to fun! Hosting the longest lunch of the year, this will be one New Year’s Day you are sure to remember!

Please note that to ensure a safe event, the following items are prohibited at South Bank on New Year’s Eve: alcohol, glass, pets, bikes, scooters, metal cutlery, and drink bottles with broken seals (including bottles of water or soft drink). If you are unsure about whether to bring an item, please email your query to vicsouthbank@brisbanemarketing.com.au.
