Rejoice, picnic lovers! The lush Riverside Green has just been unveiled, boasting Brisbane’s best green space in the heart of South Bank Parklands; and trust us when we say, it’s totally a ‘gram worthy experience.
This brand-new space will have you seeing our city in a new light, not only with its lush lawns and leafy highlights, but with the barbeque facilities, function spaces, vibrant lighting, breath-taking water feature and dazzling city views.
Take a break from the daily grind and have your Parklands takeaway in the shady subtropical pavilion set amongst the plants, or woo your date with a picnic from one of Little Stanley Street’s restaurants on the luxuriant lawns overlooking the city. The options here are endless, and we know you’ll make the most of it on your next foodie expedition.
While you’re there, we suggest taking a stroll to appreciate the spectacular water installation, Water is Life, honouring the connection to place, people, and culture. Sprawling across the centre of the lawns, this sculpture is the work of artist Elisa Jane Carmichael of Quandamooka Country. The sculptured boulders display patterns of Aboriginal net and weave, and connect to a stream flowing towards the Brisbane River. It also makes the perfect backdrop for a zenned-out yoga session with a smoothie in hand, if you ask us.
