Like a Local – Best Live Music

No one knows a place quite like a local.  From where to eat, where to drink, and everything in between, they know their neck of the woods like no one else (and usually aren’t that keen to share)!  We’ve tapped into some of that local knowledge to present you with the best live music, as voted by the South Brisbane locals themselves… just don’t tell them we told you!

The Charming Squire

The Charming Squire has performers 7 nights a week.  Yes, you read that correctly! That means no matter what night you dine, you are guaranteed to score some live music with your main.  And with a host of upcoming talent on their books, it’s easy to see why this place is where all the cool kids are hanging these days.

What you can expect: Local artists, acoustic and eclectic sounds.

Bourbon Street

Friday night means live music at Bourbon Street.  The sweet sound of Louisiana blues will pair just perfectly with that slow braised pork belly with maple bacon and cider puree on your plate.

What you can expect: Jazz sounds straight from Louisiana itself.

Stoke Bar

When you want exceptional food teamed with river views and a vibing atmosphere, there really is no better place to turn to than Stokehouse.  Their ‘Stoked on Sundays’ is a well-kept secret amongst locals, and for good reason.  Brisbane’s best DJ’s provide the perfect soundtrack to end your week in style.

What you can expect: Chilled out sounds from some of the city’s hottest DJ’s.

Sunday Sessions

River Quay’s very own Sunday Sessions on The Green has stolen the hearts of locals and visitors alike.  Grab a chair or rug, sit back with the river as your backdrop and be entertained by some of Brisbane’s top performers.  Plus, if you order/provide your own food, it’s BYO drinks.  We have to warn you though: it may cause you to temporarily forget that it’s Monday the next day.

What you can expect: Local artists creating one very chill-axed vibe.

The Sangria Bar

Ole’s lineup reads like a mixed bag of lollies.  There’s a lot of variety, but, at the end of the day, you’re pretty much guaranteed to like whatever you get! Thursday sees some Latin beats, on Friday and Saturday there’s a DJ to get you in the weekend mood and come Sunday, a chilled flamenco guitarist is on hand to serenade you into the working week.

What you can expect: A whole lot of Latin flava!
