Summer is almost over! Stretch it out that little bit longer with a delectable dessert – that’s what summer is all about after all. Here’s our pick of dessert havens across South Bank, and the best menu items to chow down on!
Nitrogenie – Legitimately anything…
Okay, so this is a given. But for anyone who hasn’t sampled the sweet, sweet nectar that is Nitrogenie ice cream, you are severely missing out. Their velvety smooth concoctions taste exactly like the flavour they represent (with no artificial flavouring thank you very much) and are beyond creamy. The taste sensation is almost overwhelming, it’s that good. Take yours down to Streets Beach and enjoy the view while you take a trip to ice cream heaven. No need to thank us for the recommendation, just enjoy.
Denim Co. – Espresso Brownie
Serving sweet treats until late, Denim Co. has you covered for brownies, cakes, and slices with gluten-free options for those of us who love all things sweet without the wheat! Arguably the best of these options is their Espresso Brownie, an espresso and chocolate combination served warm (and yep, it’s gluten free, too). This Denim Co. favourite is a fabulous pick-me-up for brownie lovers, making a great combination of coffee and chocolate. Get yours from 7am until late. Denim Co. also has rotating sweet treats in their cabinet and alternating specials, some of which include Nutella!
French Martini – Creme Brulee
Proving that the French know how to produce the most gourmet desserts around, French Martini serves up the sweetest creme brulee to hit Little Stanley Street. For any creme brulee enthusiasts, this one takes the cake (or custard, in this case) with a burnt glaze that’s just right and the perfect amount of sweetness – not too little, not too much – to make your eyes bulge out of your head and steal your date’s serve.
Max Brenner – The Pirouetting Pavlova Sundae
As decadent as it looks, Max Brenner’s Salted Caramel Tart is just like a normal tart – if it were in full-throttle overdrive. Picture a crumbly crust pastry that oozes chocolate and caramel with just a hint of salt to make the sweet goodness explode in your mouth. It’s a deliciously decadent twist on a sweet staple and just right for those who can’t quite handle a larger serving. Grab a hot chocolate served in a Hug Mug for maximum enjoyment.
The Great Aussie Sweet Company – anything you can fit in your paper bag!
So this doesn’t technically count as dessert per se, but who doesn’t love the idea of a bag filled with your favourite childhood treats? Chocolate-covered honeycomb, chocolate-covered ginger, m&ms, raspberries, bananas, liquorice – and that’s not even the tip of the iceberg at The Great Aussie Sweet Co. You have your pick of treats to fill a bag, but there is also an impressive selection of international chocolates and sweets including Hershey’s, Reece’s, and more. Good luck choosing!
