Oktoberfest Street Party

Australia’s Biggest Oktoberfest

Shake off your lederhosen and dirndl’s because Australia’s biggest Oktoberfest is coming to South Bank.

Stanley Street Plaza is putting on an Oktoberfest that the whole family can experience – including your doggos!

Experience traditional feasting, limited-edition Oktoberfest biers on tap, participate in a series of delicious foodie challenges, enjoy oompah bands, on-stage yodelling and traditional slap dancing for six whole weeks!

To open the German extravaganza, our friends at Munich Bauhaus are putting on a street party that will kick off at midday on Saturday 22 September with a ceremonial tapping of the first Oktoberfest bier keg, followed by a celebratory parade and an official Oktoberfest after-party beginning at 9pm.

An Oktoberfest bier tent will pop up on opening day, which will feature traditional communal dining tables where guests can eat, drink and prost the night away.

The six weeks of festivities will be filled with traditional feasting and an assortment of challenges. Battle it out in a number of competitions, with prizes worth competing for – trust us! If you think you’ve got what it takes to demolish the most sausages in one minute, have a furry friend that loves to strut their stuff, can hoist a stein for a long period of time or are the best dressed then prepare to compete!

For the duration of the festival, Munich Bauhaus will also be offering a Oktoberfest package, where you’ll score yourself an official stein that you can take home with you.

South Beach Social and South Bank Beer Garden will also be joining in on the festivities and have added a schnitzel with a German sausage topper and Hoegarden to their menu. Plus, the party will be extended up to The Plough Inn where you’ll be able to treat yourself to a Giant Beer Bratwurst.
