Alissa Gabriel wins the Bacardi Legacy Competition

Excuse any typos here – we’ve been busy sipping award-winning cocktails at The Manhattan Line. The celebrations have been for the bar’s talented mixologist and manager Alissa Gabriel, who has won the Australian finals of the Bacardi Legacy Competition and will now represent Australia in the international final.

The Bacardi Legacy Competition is one of the world’s most prestigious drinks competitions and Alissa, just 21 years old, went up against a high caliber of entrants in her quest for victory. After impressing the judges with her cocktail named The Bouteiller, she will compete on the international stage at the global final in Sydney on 5 May.

Her winning cocktail was composed of Bacardi Oro, Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth, falernum, Peychaud’s Bitters and green chartreuse, and was named after French confectioner and distiller Jose Leon Bouteiller, who helped bring Bacardi into existence.

Has she just created the next Cuba Libre? Drop by The Manhattan Line to sample The Bouteiller and judge for yourself. And be sure to give Alissa a well-earned high five while you’re there.
