Jon Molvig Maverick | 1 January – 2 February
Jon Molvig (1923-70) spent the greater part of his productive life in Brisbane where he dominated the art scene into the late 1960s. Brisbane was the catalyst for his major work, providing him with scope for his expressionist view of the world. This exhibition acknowledges his contribution to the local art community, features his early, vibrant works drawing on European influences and brings his stylistic eclecticism to the fore.
Water | 1 January – 26 April
QAGOMA’s summer blockbuster exhibition explores water in all its states and across the globe, sustaining and connecting life. From major immersive experiences to smaller scale works by Australian and international artists, ‘Water’ will highlight this precious resource and spark conversations on the critical challenges of climate change, access to water and ecological fragility.
The Book of Mormon | 3 January – 26 January
The Book of Mormon returns to Brisbane! After a sold-out season in 2019, the “funniest musical of all time” (Entertainment Weekly) is coming back due to popular demand, this January for a limited season. This outrageous musical comedy follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get.
Squire Sunday’s | 5 January – 29 March

Australia Day at South Bank | 26 January
On January 26, relax and celebrate the laid-back lifestyle of our vast and diverse country with festivities on the sprawling lawns of South Bank Parklands. Enjoy free live music set amongst the spectacular setting of River Quay at Sunday Social on the Green, and delicious picnic hampers from River Quay’s restaurants. Lunar New Year at Munich Brauhaus | 25 January – 8 February
