Water

Art

QAGOMA’s summer blockbuster exhibition explores water in all its states and across the globe, sustaining and connecting life.

From major immersive experiences to smaller-scale works by Australian and international artists, ‘Water’ will highlight this precious resource and spark conversations on the critical challenges of climate change, access to water and ecological fragility.

Angela Tiatia measures the rising tide, Olafur Eliasson’s Riverbed 2014 relocates an Icelandic stream to GOMA’s ground floor, predator and prey drink together from the vivid blue waterhole of Cai Guo-Qiang’s Heritage 2013 and Judy Watson reflects on the long cultural traditions of the Maiwar (Brisbane River).

Also featured, interactive sculpture The Fact of Matter 2009, a cloud of suspended gymnastic rings by US choreographer and artist William Forsythe, asks us to consider new ways to move and work together to meet the challenge of climate change.

Tickets on sale September 2019.
