Darkness to Daylight is a 110 kilometre night run with each kilometre symbolising a life lost to DFV every year. Together, they’re literally bringing the issue of DFV out of darkness and into the daylight. The challenge is held annually at South Bank Parklands during Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month. In 2019 Darkness to Daylight will take place on 29 to 30 May.
Participants can run the full 110 kilometres individually or take on the challenge as a team. Alternatively, there is a 10 kilometre and 3 kilometre run in the morning, giving everyone an opportunity to take part.
In 2018, they saw over 2300 people take on the challenge, with most people getting involved through their workplace.
Money raised will support ACEOC to continue their work raising awareness of DFV in the workplace and supporting services on the front line, including children who have had to flee their home to escape violence.
